Tulsa Rocks!

Actually any city rocks when you are a tired momma of a toddler and a newborn! We were lucky enough to have a little get away to Tulsa this past weekend, compliments of Andrew and Melanie's wedding festivities :)

It was SO much fun. We slept, laid by the pool, slept, hung out with friends, slept, made new friends, slept, danced, danced, and danced some more, slept, and I even got a MASSAGE!!! Did I mention we slept? It was GLORIOUS!

A limo picked us up at the airport, and there were limos on hand to take us anywhere and everywhere all weekend!

2 months

Our little man is 2 months old! He is getting so big and growing so fast.

We had his 2 month check up last week, so here are his stats:

Height: 22 1/2 in (25th %)
Weight: 12 lbs. 4 oz. (55th %)
Head: 50th %

He obviously doesn't take after his Mommy or his sister in the head department ;) I am actually surprised he was only in the 25th %ile for height because he seems so long to me! But the doctor said he is growing just perfectly, so that's exactly what we wanted to hear :)

He smiles and coos and goos at us now, which is so much fun.

He is eating every 3 hours, and usually still wakes up once or twice at night.

This kid has been pretty adaptable, because we are always on the GO! Whether its just running errands around town or road trips to Dallas or the lake, he is quite comfy in his car seat.

A few random facts about Miles at 2 months:
-He usually burps in sets of 2. I'll be patting his back and get a burp, immediately followed by another.

-He gets the hiccups ALL the time. It's getting better, but for a while he seemed to get them after EVERY feeding. How annoying!

-He is quite good at kicking out of his swaddle at night. Soccer player maybe?

-He has managed to roll over a few times, but he hasn't done it in a while, so I am back to thinking it was just a weird fluke thing.

Enjoying some tummy time with the help of Big Sis

-He LOVES to nap on his tummy. He rarely naps in his bed, which I am sure will come back to bite me, but for now it's just the easiest thing. He is usually either in his swing on on his tummy in the living room, both of which he seems to thoroughly enjoy :)

I vowed never to make him use her pink stuff, but alas it couldn't be avoided...

-He is getting one bottle of formula every night, and nursing the rest of the day. That seems to be going well, and it allows me to store milk, which gives me more freedom...yea!

He is such a sweet boy and we sure do love hm!!!!

Happy Day, America!

Once again, we spent the 4th of July weekend at the lake house. The weather was sketchy at first, but it turned out to be absolutely perfect!

Bryce and Elizabeth came for one night, and we got to meet our brand new niece Lainey Ann! She is such a doll!!!

Caroline and Benjamin had a wonderful time running around together, too.
Caroline always manages to keep herself VERY busy...

enjoying a little breakfast with Grandpa,

playing with the hose,
driving the boat,

mowing the lawn,

chatting with Grandpa,
She never sits still!!!
Miles on the other hand, gets in plenty of rest wherever we are ;)

Watching Wimbledon with Grammy
Chillin on his play mat

The Viettis and the Clements joined us for the actual 4th and it was fantastic!

Caroline couldn't wait for Mattie and Libby to arrive.
Our little firecrackers!

The big girls ready for a boat ride
They were kind enough to let the mommies tag along ;)
They had the driving under control
Ready for a spin on the jet ski :)
The 3 Amigos!
Libby can't wait til next year so she can take rides on the boat and jet ski, too ;)

As Caroline would say...Happy Day, America!

Miles goes to Dallas

I took the kids on my first solo road trip with 2 a couple of weeks ago. Daddy was in Portland for Cousin Ryan's wedding, and I opted to head to the Big D where there were lots of extra hands to spoil us :)

The road trip was a success thanks to full tummies and of course Dora!

We had so much fun visiting family and friends.

Miles got some great cuddle time with "Uncy Paul" as Caroline calls him...
He also found that Papa Al's belly was the perfect place to nap :)

A rare photo of me with Caroline

I met up with some of the girls I used to work with...It was fun to have the old Pearson gang together!
We met "Uncy Clark", Aunt Brittany, and Emma at Gattitown!

We rode the train...
"Hi Clark!" This girl loves her Uncle Clark :)
We rode the carousel...
Me and the girls...
Caroline and Emma showed off their Dance, Dance Revolution skills...
It was such a blast!

We had a great trip and we're looking forward to a few more trips to D-town this summer!

22 months

Don't worry...I won't keep boring you with these monthly posts once she turns 2, which means only 2 more after this one!!!!

Caroline is a bundle of energy. She doesn't stop moving or talking from the time she wakes up til the time she goes to bed. It's exhausting but fun.

I think it's safe to say, we are in the throws of the terrible two's around here. Whining, screaming, crying, and fit throwing often for no apparent reason. Every other word out of her mouth is "Mine" or "My turn" or "I wanna do it".

Relaxing in "her" bouncy chair. She doens't like to share it with Miles AT ALL. Nice.

She loves to count...anything and everything. She can even count to 5 in Spanish! Guess all that Dora is paying off ;)

Her favorite color continues to be orange, so we are hoping this doesn't mean she wants to be a longhorn someday :)

Playing dress up a la 80's style in honor of my party...

She can go up and down the stairs all by herself. I like to keep an eye on her when she comes down because you never know when she is going to decide to "go rolling" as she says. She can also jump with both feet off the ground...she actually gets pretty high!

There are so many cute and funny things she says I can hardly keep track. Here are a few:
  • When we say "I love you" she says "I love you, too, Mommy!" Melts our hearts every time.
  • She sometimes calls us by our first names.
  • She is obsessed with discussing her birthday. She will tell you it's in August, that she will be 2, and that she wants pizza, strawberry ice cream, and strawberry cake.
  • When Jon comes home from work, she says "How are you, Daddy?"
  • If Jon and I are talking to each other (especially in the car) she will call one of our names incessantly, until we answer her. Then she just looks at us. She has nothing to say, she just wants us to talk to her instead of each other. Sometimes she will say, "Mommy, no talking." Oh my.

Daddy

Recently, we got to celebrate Jon X 2! Both his birthday and Father's Day.

I know I totally take for granted how wonderful he is.

As a husband, he always encourages me to take time for myself, go out with my friends, or just go to bed early. He works so hard to provide such a wonderful life for us, he cooks, he will watch any movie I pick, and he always makes me laugh. He constantly strives to be a better husband, which is the greatest gift of all.

He is such a great Daddy to Caroline and Miles. To say that Caroline adores him is such an incredible understatement. She lights up at the sight of him, jumps up and down with excitement at the mention of his name, and wants to do everything he does. He is so much fun! They go on all kinds of adventures together and he teaches her all kinds of fun things. She swims with him, rides bikes, "works out", gardens, you name it.Have I mentioned that he is the Baby Whisperer? If Miles is fussy, I will try and try to get him happy with no luck and then Daddy will swoop in and save the day! He really is so good with him.

What a blessing he is to me not only as a husband, but also as the father of my kids.

Here are some pics of he and Caroline's latest adventures...

She loves to swim, of course. He has been taking her to the pool as often as possible. When we tell her we are going swimming, she rattles of the list of everything she will need..."My bathing suit, my hat, my life jacket, my sunscreen..." etc, etc. Here she is with her new Puddle Jumper life jacket, which she loves, and so do we!!!

Not a chance she would look at the camera. Notice her cute little pool shoes...Jon told me that for the record he did not want our children being the kids with the "aqua socks and the fanny packs" but I think her shoes are cute...for now ;)
We got her this trike at a garage sale for $5...that's no typo...FIVE dollars! They even threw in the Dora helmet for free! She can pedal a little, but it has a handle so we can help her. She loves it and wants to ride it ALL the time.
The biggest thrill for Caroline and Daddy is the new bike trailer! Another garage sale steal...$15. We can't wait til Miles is big enough so we can go on family rides :)

Getting strapped in...
Helmet on...
Ready to go!
And they're off!

I can't wait to see what they get into next :)

We love you, Daddy Jon!!!
Love,
Mommy, Caroline, and Miles :)
